Top rated stockpot by Cooks Illustrated (no need to buy a super-expensive All-Clad which doesn't do any better). I can see why because you can't find anything else of this size and quality for this price that has a pasta or steamer insert, let alone both inserts.
Very well constructed out of 18/10 stainless steel. I own it and the undocumented bonus is that you can use the pasta pot as a gigantic steamer for things like lobsters or something, in addition to using the regular steamer, of course.
The way this is constructed you can also use the steamer basket's drippings to drip down into rice or pasta or whatever else you are cooking down below, for extra flavor.
Thick aluminum disc on the base, stainless steel for the interior and exterior pot, and stainless inserts. No it is not triply-clad up the sides of the pot, but you don't need it for watery stuff because the water will carry the heat anyway and you WANT it to convect heat anyway.
Very good price, usually in the $72-79 range on Amazon, and higher elsewhere. Big sales on this pot are very infrequent; the last time it was this low in price was TWO YEARS ago. Get it while you can, I love this pot!
